Jet Aeration Retrofit

Retrofitting your jet aerators to use Air Products’ oxygen instead of air can provide additional capacity to your activated sludge process. By changing from air to oxygen aeration, the oxygen concentration increases by a factor of five resulting in higher oxygen transfer rates and, therefore, increased BOD treatment capacity. As an additional benefit, this conversion also reduces the VOC emissions from the basin due to lower volumes of gas leaving the basin.

Oxygen

Oxygen is a colorless gas which constitutes approximately 21 percent of the volume of air. It can be stored and shipped as either a gas or a cryogenic liquid with a boiling point of -297.3°F (-183°C). Oxygen is used for oxidation in wastewater treatment processes. For wastewater treatment applications, we supply oxygen in gas or liquid form which we can either deliver to your site or produce on your site. The use of oxygen instead of air for wastewater oxidation reduces foaming, odor and volatile emissions issues and can provide more treatment capacity per volume.
