Air Products Mini-Trim and Cryo-Trim Deflashing Equipment

Air Products Mini-Trim and Cryo-Trim technology allows the removal of excess flash and material from moulded rubber components.
The Mini-Trim is an ideal unit for trimming small to medium sized volumes of moulded rubber components with excess material or flash attached after the moulding process, by using liquid nitrogen and the cryogenic process to embrittle the excess flash ready for mechanical removal. The flash removal is efficient and provides excellent moulded component finish quality

How it works

The temperature of the rubber is reduced to below its glass transition temperature (point at which rubber behaves like glass, brittle). Plastic shot is fired at the parts, with a result of the flash being broken apart from the rubber component, removing the need for lengthy and laborious hand finishing. The whole process from start to finish usually takes less that 6 minutes. The process is completely automated and can be worked into the workshop computer control system.
