Air Products Malaysia Spreads “Safety First” Message at Responsible Care Run 2016

On the bright sunny morning of 28 August 2016, thousands of runners gathered at the Botanic Garden in Shah Alam to participate in the Responsible Care Run 2016 organized by the Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia (CICM). Being a member of CICM and one of the world's safest industrial gases companies, Air Products participated in the event as a gold sponsor.

The Council is the national association that represents the chemical industry in Malaysia. It is also the country’s main steward for Responsible Care, the global voluntary initiative to drive excellence in environmental, health and safety performance among chemical companies and to enhance public trust and confidence in the industry.

On the day of the event, Air Products set up a booth to spread the “Safety First” message through gifts, games and instant photo shoots. In addition, 17 Air Products employees took part in the run, including Mark Garrett, regional supply chain manager – Asia, who finished in third place in the Men's Veteran category.

"It has been a great privilege for Air Products to sponsor and participate in CICM’s Responsible Run," said Shia Yang Lik, General Manager, Industrial Gases – Malaysia, Air Products. "We are committed to fulfilling our social responsibility to both our employees and our community. Through this event, we seek not only to promote a healthy lifestyle, but also to arouse greater public awareness of the high safety standards that are upheld in the industrial gases business and across the whole chemical industry."
